Another 6 hour race is in the books and this one was a fun one. Most of the course for the 2nd race of the 2013 series ran backwards (however riders came down “tunnel”). This made for a good flowing course in later laps, but unfortunately created a 20 minute bottle neck which according to reports from Michelle, Monica and Willie where were stuck in it, was something like standing in line to watch someone spin out in a sand trap, one at a time.

Great Day At Altitude In The Pines

We had our largest team turn out for the US Cup series final yesterday at Big Bear. The new course / trails were really good and changed the race dramatically for the better. We didn’t climb for 4.5 miles of fire road right from the start as we did in years past. Instead, we climbed for a “quick” 1.3 miles and then turned on to a new singletrack trail with berms, technical sections, and rolling climbs for the rest of the way up. It was really fun, and long overdue for races in that area.

Laura wins Trans Andes Challenge

Last October I had the great fortune of my friend Mary asking me to participate in the Trans Andes Challenge in Patagonia, Chile. At first I thought it was impossible. But with Mike and my work encouraging me to go, I decided to seize the opportunity. Wow, so glad I did.

The Trans Andes Challenge is a 6 days mountain bike stage race which averages about 40 miles and 6000 feet of climbing per day. The terrain is very similar to what we have here. It consists mostly of jeep road and gravel road with some single track sprinkled in here and there.
